The Seniors Christmas Lunch is like the other Seniors lunch that we hold every 3rd of 4th Friday of every month apart from January. We have Lovely people in this local Community that cook wonderful meals for them. This is a 3 course meal starting with bread and soup, them the main meal and then sweets. There can be anywhere from 10 to 20 of our senior Citizen come to this event. For the Christmas Lunch The Bencubbin Community Resource Centre does a roast and invite all the helpers/volunteers that have cooked the lunch for the senior through out the year, as a way to say thank you for doing this well supported event. At this event we have the School kids from the local school come down and sing Christmas song to the seniors of our Community.
Once a year we get together with the shire to hold the Mount Marshall Seniors Week Trip. This year we went to The Swan Valley, they stopped at Slater House near Goomalling and had a Tour and morning tea, we had Lunch at Bakers Hill Pie shop, we had a look around Mundaring Weir, then we booked in to the Caravan Park. Day 2 - We went to Mondo Nougat, and next door was Morrish Nuts so we had a look through there, then we moved on to the "House of Honey", we went for a drive to Whitman Park - we took a tram Ride around the park. We stopped at Margaret River Chocolate Factory for afternoon tea and to get some CHOCOLATE!! Day 3 - We caught ferry to Fremantle, It was a lovely cruise down the river to Fremantle where they disembarked the ferry and boarded the tram for an hour long tour around Fremantle. We then boarded the boat back to Perth where we were served a buffet lunch, which was enjoyed by all, especially the prawns. We went for a drive up to Kings Park, where we walked around the war memorials and gardens. Day 4 Dawson’s Nursery in Hale Road, Forrestfield was our first stop of the day, a few gardening purchases were made, mainly tomato and rose plants. Next was Centrepoint in Midland to do some shopping and have lunch, then more shopping at Midland Gate shopping centre. As it was the last night we went out for dinner at the “Pig and Whistle Bar and Bistro” in Swan View. Day 5 We Hopped on the bus to come home. We went for a tour on a couple of back road on the north eastern side of Toodyay, but found the places that we went to see were closed. We had a quick look through Toodyay Emporium, then on to Dowerin for lunch at the Dowerin bakery. Finally arriving home just before 3pm.
Men's Health Night was a good turn out with 26 people turning up to it. We cooked a BBQ and made salads. Everyone had a great time talking to one another. This event was to let the Men in the Local area open up and talk to each other and to let people know that they are NOT alone, people will be there for you to talk to them.
WOW!! Just WOW!! Great Event everyone had a Fantastic time, drinking and learning to paint still life. 17 people had a great time. The artwork that was painted by the locals were absolutely Fabulous. We are holding another night like this one next year.
