If I thought the children were excited last week, boy was I in for a surprise. Times the noise level by 7 and add a few more children and the echo's of the Rec Ground kitchen that equals Thursday the 16 of July 2015. However loud the children were, it was all worth it to see the amazing creativity and thought that the children put into the ingredients they put on their pizzas. Bencubbin really does have some amazingly creative children. We started off with the very messy task of making our own pizza dough. Very Messy, but the children really enjoyed it, kneading the dough and rolling it out onto the table and kneading it a bit more. Then we had to set the dough aside to let it rise. The children then were allowed to choose what ingredients they wanted on their pizza. They had a choice of chicken, pineapple, onion, cheese, salami, mushrooms, ham, bacon, tomatoes, feta cheese, red or green capsicum, spinach and of course tomato or bbq pizza sauce.
While waiting for the dough to rise they chopped and prepared the ingredients that they wanted on their pizza, by the time we had finished all the prep work, the dough was ready and we could start to roll out our base into some quite interesting shapes. Then we put on the toppings and set them into the oven until they were ready. While waiting the children were let lose to run around the oval and let out some energy. When the pizzas were ready, we cut them into slices and sat down to enjoy the incredible flavours created by our Bencubbin children.
